Editorās Note
Hey, dear reader!
"Berlin auf die 1" ā that's how a post I read last week began. A new community-driven initiative to make Berlin Europe's number one tech hub. And truly, I believe they can pull it off. Not because Berlin is, well, Berlin, but because what's happening there is what I desperately want to see in Hamburg.
A bottom-up ecosystem where things happen because of people's creativity and grit, not because some institution decided to host another meetup on how to choose a legal entity. Don't get me wrong, those basics matter. But when the highlight of your startup ecosystem is a pitch competition where the main prize is a coaching certificate, something's off.
I want to see us ā founders, operators, community builders, investors ā putting our minds together and creating the ecosystem we never had before. It starts with us. Not with a government program. Not with another panel about the future of innovation.
Politics will follow. Money will follow. And maybe it's time to bring Hamburg auf die 1 š„
So this week, when you're at an event or heads down building your thing, think about what you'd change here. And let's do it together.
